Old enough to remember all of this. A fellow choir member referred to herself as the “Anita Bryant” of the group. I found it all disgusting.

Anita Bryant, forever, a stain on the fabric of our community. Excellent retelling of a horrible time.

Thanks for the overview. I was there, experienced the whole bloody mess. My friends leaving the Candle light Restaurant which was owned by Robert Stickney and his brother was a hub of resistance, my girlfriend Kirstie McClure worked there, were beaten up. Ex nun Jean O’Leary came down to advise us. Bob Kunst was a friend. Red necks were shooting people they thought gay with buckshot at bus stops. It was as ugly as it gets. The GLBT+ communities are waiting and watching for the violence the Trumpers will rain down on us in 2025.

I’m so sorry. I feared the next four years would be tough but for you, and yours, it will be intolerable. Sending you love and hugs. 🥰

Thanks just gather your friends and allies, travel in groups if you can and hunker down in your resistance. We got through the OJ Queen, may she be boiling in the stuff and we’ll get through the new Orange CF nightmare being a reflection of just how badly our representatives have failed to defend the Constitution and us. I for got to mention Michael Hardwick worked at the Candle light too. He was a friend.

Disney World is a curious character in all of this too; have you heard Bryant’s Orange Bird song?
